Reece Howden aka. Big Rig

Reece was born July 12, 1998 and started skiing not long after learning to walk. He grew up racing alpine at Apex ski resort near Penticton BC. In 2016 was picked up by the Canadian Ski Cross Team after the Youth(U18) Olympic Games in 2016, where I won Gold in Ski Cross. After developing his skills on the Canadian Devo Team for a few years he began competing on the FIS WorldCup in 2019 and attended the World Championships in Salt Lake City. In 2020 he won his first WorldCup Race on home soil at the Nakiska Ski Resort in AB, Canada. The following season he dominated the WorldCup circuit with multiple wins and podiums leaving him ranked 1st in the World and his first Overall Crystal Globe. Since 2020 he competed at the Olympics in Beijing and won a second Overall Crystal Globe. His goals for this season is to continue getting on the Podium and work towards his third Overall Crystal Globe.

Academics
Ski Cross

During his development stages as an athlete he also attended SAIT Polytechnic completed a Geomatics Engineering Technology Diploma. This allowed him to focus on athletics and aided in his athletic success. In the off-season he has worked part-time with his fathers surveying company as a Hydrographic Surveyor mapping rivers, lake and oceans all over British Columbia.

Although new to public speaking Reece has spoken at schools, events and with athletic teams sharing his experiences and lessons learned as a high performance athlete, student/athlete and young man.

In the offseason he has found a passion in ranching, horsemanship and livestock land management.
